Guest: Naomi Peña is a Parent Leader and Community Activists in the Lower East Side Manhattan where she was born and raised. She is raising four children in the public school system; three of which are dyslexic. After 15 yrs of advocating for the needs of her children, she, along with five other mothers are working toward opening up the first public school for students who are dyslexic struggling readers - The Manhattan Literacy Academy.
Guest: Akeela Azcuy, Ph.D., was born and raised in the public schools of NYC. She is raising three children, two of whom are dyslexic. As an education advocate, she is a founding board member of both The Dyslexia Alliance for Black Children (DABC) and Families for Real Equity in Education (FREE). Akeela has joined forces with five NYC mothers to open the first public school for students who are dyslexic struggling readers - The Manhattan Literacy Academy.
Guest: Weslan Eugene is a Brooklyn-based physical educator and youth sports entrepreneur. Originally from Haiti by way of Miami, Florida, he has been putting his life’s work toward physical literacy, fitness, health and youth development for the past 12 years. This has added to the building of his youth program - Youth Tribe Athletics. Outside of these endeavors, he enjoys increasing his knowledge of finance, religion, spending time with family and friends. Watch the video above
