Literacy Academy Collective (LAC) is expanding its instructional team to support our growing imapct at our flagship school in South Bronx (SBLA) and partner schools across New York City. We are seeking passionate, experienced educators with a background in structure literacy to join our diver and collaborative team.

TEACHERS
Do you have Structured literacy training or an OG background? A growth mindset and want to learn? A desire to learn to teach 2-4th graders who are struggling to read using structured literacy? We have full-time teaching positions open at Central Brooklyn Literacy Academy (PS 969) in District 17 and South Bronx Literacy Academy (PS 642) for 2024-25 academic year.

We're hiring for Fall 2026. Candidates must hold one of the following NYS licenses: Central Brooklyn Literacy Academy (Crown Heights, Brooklyn) Grades 2–4 - Childhood General Education - Childhood Special Education or Dual Certification South Bronx Literacy Academy (Concourse Village West, Bronx) Grades 2–6 - Childhood General Education - Middle Childhood (5–9) or Adolescent (7–12) with a 5th–6th grade extension - Childhood Special Education or Dual Certification - Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Great candidates bring: - Interest in structured literacy and explicit math instruction - Collaborative, growth-oriented mindset and the desire to work in a co-teaching position - Commitment to support co-occurring conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, and depression
COACHES
We are building a team of experienced literacy coaches who can support teachers at SBLA on a regular basis 1-2x/week in the morning; or teachers in LAC’s afterschool program in District I (Lower East Side) three afternoons/week. Coaches must have previous coaching experience, and experience with structured literacy/SoR. LAC will provide training in the specific curriculum used.
INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERS
We are hiring two full-time instructional leads. One to provide continued instructional support at our Bronx school and another to oversee a model classroom as we expand to Brooklyn. Instructional leads should be experienced administrators and/or teacher developers with a background in structured literacy, curriculum planning and coaching and should have experience working with students with language-based learning disabilities and other struggling readers.
STUDENT TEACHERS
SBLA is looking to host 2-4 student teachers. Placements can be part or full day for up to 20 weeks. We will work with schools of education to ensure that placement & supervisory requirements are met.
These placements will provide aspiring educators with hands-on experience in a dynamic literacy-focused environment, supporting students who face challenges such as dyslexia and other learning differences.
